Shanghai Airlines was founded in 1985 and has its headquarters in the Jing'an District, Shanghai. Shanghai Airlines is a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, but continues to operate under its own brand name. Initially, the airline operated on domestic routes only. However, ever since 1997 the airline has started operating on international routes as well. Shanghai Airlines is presently serving over 140 domestic and international routes connecting major cities in Mainland China as well as to Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Macau. Shanghai Airlines operates a fleet of 72 aircrafts. These include 10 Boeing 737-700, 45 Boeing 737-800, 8 Boeing 757-200, 4 Boeing 767-300, 3 Boeing 767-300ER and 3 Bombardier CRJ-200LR.
