The flagship carrier of Romania TAROM was founded in 1954. It is the oldest carrier in the country, which was founded as TAROM Romanian Air Transport but is now popularly known as TAROM. A state-owned carrier, TAROM became a member of leading global airline alliance SkyTeam since 25th June 2010. The airline is headquartered in Otopeni and provides flights to many worldwide destinations from its main hub at Henri Coanda International Airport. TAROM began its first international flight across the Atlantic in 1966. Currently, TAROM serves a total of 52 destinations, including 10 destinations within Romania. The international destinations being served are in 22 countries in North Africa, Middle East and Europe. The airline owns a fleet of 24 aircrafts, which includes one Boeing 737-800, four Boeing 737-700, four Boeing 737-300, four Airbus A318-111, seven ATR 42-500, two ATR 72-500 and two Airbus A310-325.
