Aer Lingus passenger traffic increases 8.2 percent in March

Aer Lingus recently announced its operational results for March 2012 and sounded optimistic about the outcome.

Aer Lingus flights reported an increase in the passenger traffic.

The airline in a statement disclosed that the total number of passengers booking Aer Lingus flights tickets increased by 8.2 percent this March.

The airline stated that the total Aer Lingus Mainline flown passengers numbers were 736,000 in March 2012, up 6.4 percent as compared to March 2011.

According to the airline, short haul flown passengers this March were 663,000, an increase of 5.4 percent, as compared to the same month in 2011.

The long haul flown passengers last month were 73,000, up 15.9 percent, as compared to March last year.

Providing details about the load factor, the airline stated that total Aer Lingus Mainline flown passenger load factor in March 2012 increased by five points on March 2011 to 75.8 percent.

Further, short haul flown load factor was 72.6 percent, an increase of 3.4 points, as compared to March last year. The capacity increased by 1.1 percent.

Aer Lingus also stated that its long haul flown load factor was 82 percent, an increase of 8.2 points in March 2011, with capacity increasing by 4 percent during the same month last year.
