Aer Lingus reports increase in passenger traffic in June

Aer Lingus recently disclosed its results for the month of June 2012. The airline said that Aer Lingus flights tickets bookings showed an upward trend resulting in the growth of passenger traffic.

The airline in a statement said that Aer Lingus flights carried more passengers in June this year as compared to the same month in 2011. The passenger traffic on short as well as long haul routes increased this June.

The airline, while providing details of its operational results, said that it flew a total of 918,000 passengers, up 2 percent when compared to June 2011. The airline stated that a majority of passengers took short haul flights totaling 819,000. Though the airline said that there was only slight increase in short haul passengers as compared to a year earlier.

According to the airline, the passenger traffic on long haul routes showed a significant increase of 12.5 percent. The airline further stated that its load factor also increased 3.8 points to 82.6 percent. However, the load factor on short haul routes increased 1.4 points to 78.1 percent in June 2012 as compared to the same month last year.
