Aer Lingus Says Hello San Francisco Once Again

Aer Lingus launched new flight service between San Francisco Dublin, its main hub on April 2, 2014. Connecting the city pair five times a week, the airline aims for boost Ireland's image as a business destination amongst the passengers traveling from the Silicon Valley area.

All the major technology organizations to origin out of San Francisco like Google, LinkedIn have set up their international HQ's in Dublin. With this the city receives more that 40 percent of its total international investment from the US. Hence, Aer Lingus decided to launch this service so as to boost the Irish tech sector.

The airline had discontinued four times a week service between the two cities citing economic crisis in 2009. The present flight operated to San Francisco International uses an Airbus A330-200 aircraft fitted with 267 seats. Flights will depart for Dublin at 1720 hours and return to San Francisco International airport at 1520 hours. The total journey of the flight is nearly 11 hours. SFO-DUB flight at present is the longest flight operated by Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus had also added European destinations to its list. On March 28, Cork-Newcastle route to be operated four times a week was launched for the first time. Two days later Dublin-Hanover route with four times a week and Shannon-Malaga route with twice weekly service was added.
