Air Canada aims to profit by reducing labor, maintenance costs

Air Canada flights have not been able to put up a strong showing due to constant labor disruptions causing the airline great losses this year. The airline recently indicated that it is looking for other ways to mitigate losses and earn profits.

Air Canada has lately given sufficient hints saying that it strongly believes that it will eventually be able to turn its first profit in coming years, by moving past the labor disruptions that have greatly damaged its brand. The airline says that this is possible by implementing cost cutting measures, such as reducing employees and maintenance costs.

Calin Rovinescu, President and CEO of Air Canada, said that the airline has suffered deeper losses in the first quarter of this year.

Rovinescu further said that the airline has over the years always given its employee good lifestyle, however time has come to make changes without reducing the salaries of its employees. Hence, the company has decided that it will be paying its shareholders and bondholders their respective due, as it is they who have invested in the airline.
