Air Canada celebrates 75th anniversary of inaugural flight, 15 percent discount offered

Air Canada recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of its inaugural flight and offered a 15 percent discount on Tango and Tango Plus fares under a special promotion for travel this fall to 75 destinations within North America.

The airline also offered discount on its entire Canada-wide network, which was available to the passengers on Air Canada flights until September 3, 2012. The airfares on this offer are valid for travel starting from September 4 through December 14, 2012.

Calin Rovinescu, Air Canada’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said that Air Canada’s predecessor Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) began its first inaugural flight 75 years ago on September 1. The first flight carried two passengers as well as mail between Vancouver and Seattle onboard a Lockheed L-10A Electra aircraft.
 
Rovinescu said that ever since Air Canada has shown a remarkable growth and has now become the world’s 15th largest carrier. Currently, the airline is serving over 150 destinations across Canada as well as internationally on five continents.
