Air Canada, other Canadian carriers asked to give more options to passengers

Passengers taking Air Canada flights or by other Canadian carriers like WestJet Airlines and Air Transat have been asked to provide more options to their respective passengers.

The Canadian Transportation Agency recently decided to ask major carriers in the country to give options in case the flights are canceled, delayed or overbooked.

According to the new regulations, passengers booking Air Canada flights tickets or by Air Transat and WestJet Airlines will be allowed the option to seek a full refund as well as a free trip home in the case their flights are overbooked or canceled, thus making their travel plans go awry.

So far, the passengers had to remain at the mercy of their respective carriers, which had the sole discretion whether to rebook or provide a refund to them.

The Canadian aviation regulator also directed these carriers to obligatorily rebook their respective customers of the first available flights even though these flights may be with the competing rival carriers.
