Air Canada planning flights on Atlantic City-Toronto route

The business at the struggling gambling resort of Atlantic City could well be looking up in the future. Air Canada is planning to launch flights to Atlantic City from Toronto, if the talks finally succeed.

This could also be the start of exciting days ahead for the tottering gambling resort of Atlantic City as it will see more profitable overnight clientele once again after the four casinos in the city were closed in the past year.

Ron Marsico, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which is currently managing the Atlantic City International Airport, said that Air Canada has been contacted and talks with the airline are presently ongoing. He said, “Just stay tuned. You could get the good news in future.”

Confirming Air Canada’s plans, Marsico said that Air Canada will be the second carrier after Spirit Airlines to serve Atlantic City International Airport (ACY). Earlier, United Airlines stopped providing services to Atlantic City from its hubs in Chicago and Houston in December 2014. The airline found the two routes as unprofitable and finally stopped flights after seven months of the launch. 
    
The State Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has also agreed to offer significant subsidies to Air Canada’s Toronto service. This was confirmed recently by the officials of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Air Canada in a press release said that the plans to launch flights to Atlantic City are being currently evaluated and significant progress is also being made in this regard.
