Air Canada planning to launch new low-cost international carrier eyeing Asian destinations

If all goes well, then there will now be more Air Canada flights to Asian destinations. Air Canada recently announced it is planning to launch a new low-cost international airline in Vancouver with an aim to aggressively tap potential Asian destinations.

The launch of a new low-cost carrier will help operate Air Canada’s overseas flights in and out of Vancouver. The airline will be operating the flights on wide-body aircrafts.

Leading Asian carriers like Cathay Pacific Airways, Korean Air, Japan Airlines and Taiwan-based EVA Airways currently operate flights to Vancouver.
 
Air Canada in a statement said that it acknowledges the potential of Asian markets for which Vancouver has emerged as a vital point. When compared to Europe, there are tremendous growth prospects in Asian markets.

The airline further stated that Vancouver has so far been an under-performing market for the airline on international routes. Air Canada is desperate to make Vancouver market profitable.

Air Canada is planning to launch its new low-cost international carrier by the spring of 2013 and is trying its best to bring a financial investor and an airline partner for this.
