Air Canada plans to raise fee, travelers disappointed

Air Canada has disappointing news for its travelers. The flagship carrier of Canada is contemplating fare hike in the wake of the weakening Canadian dollar. The largest airline of the country is also planning to raise the fees on various services offered by it, during the journey.

The airline is worried about the current position of the country’s currency. This is the compelling reason, which is responsible for it to arrive at such a harsh decision. However, it not just the airline which is worried, the travelers are equally concerned and anxious. A hike in the fares and various service fees would mean that the customers would have to shell out extra money to travel on the same route going forth.

Calin Rovinescu, the CEO of the Air Canada airline has confirmed the news thus the fears of the travelers. He said that his organization is looking for serious changes in its revenue policies in the near future. However, he did not delve into further details. The news also comes at a time when the airline along with another popular Canadian carrier reported a fall in the passenger traffic for the month of February 2014.

Apart from raising the fare prices, it intends to begin charging its customers for their checked-in baggage. It is not clear as to by how many percent the hike would cost the travelers, the news is sure though. The airline has already taken to measures for increasing its revenue figures. In line with its philosophy, it started imposing a $35 currency surcharge on its vacation packages. All will have to wait patiently for the next move and the announcement from the airline for further information.
