Air Canada to launch Wi-Fi on its flights to North America

Air Canada has announced its decision to add Wi-Fi service on many of its flights to North America. Canada’s flagship carrier said that it intends to launch the new service for the passengers who find it difficult to part ways with the outside world during their flight. It said that by offering the Wi-Fi service travelers would be able to stay in touch with their friends and family even while flying hundreds of feet above ground.

Post the launch of this service, the airline will become the first Canadian carrier to do so. It has collaborated with Gogo, a U.S. based company to fit its narrow body fleet of aircrafts with the latest amenity. The airline has not divulged on the fees that the passengers would have to pay to use the service onboard. It has however, assured that the pricing would be in line with its competitors and it will not overcharge the passengers.

Gogo, the company that the airline has hired for the task holds the reputation of equipping the fleet of carriers like United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines with the Wi-Fi services. It now has the prestigious task of fitting the Canadian airline’s fleet with the same. The airline has been contemplating the idea of making its planes Wi-Fi enabled and hence has two of its Airbus A319 planes ready with Wi-Fi for testing phase. In fact, the airline went a step ahead by announcing its latest decision on a flight between Toronto and Calgary this morning. This way the airline tested the feasibility of the project and at the same time made the newest announcement.
