Air China confirms order for five Boeing 747-8 aircrafts

World’s largest aircraft maker Boeing recently confirmed that Air China has placed orders for five new Boeing 747-8 aircrafts.

After acquiring the passenger version of the new Boeing 747-8 aircrafts, the airline plans to book Air China flights frequencies and operate on new international routes.

The order for five Boeing 747-8 aircrafts was placed by Air China in March last year. However, the sale of the aircrafts was not firm because the order had to be approved by the Chinese government, which was finally completed this month.

Boeing officials said that the orders for the new jumbo jet had been quite sluggish. According to the company this is the first confirmed sale since July 2011.

The aircraft maker said that there is total order of 111 jets with the company presently. The order with Boeing company includes 32 passenger jets, 70 freighters, and 9 VIP private jets.

The company also revealed that it has commitments for a 19 passenger aircrafts, though these are not yet firm orders.
