Air China debut Boeing 747-8I aircraft on New York JFK route

Air China recently introduced new Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental aircraft on its Beijing-New York JFK route. The airline will conduct two daily roundtrip flights between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport using the new aircraft. With the launch of the new Boeing 747-8I services, New York JFK will now become the first destination in North America to be served by this new aircraft type.

The airline in a statement said that Air China’s flights CA981 and CA982 will continue to be operated twice daily with the help of Boeing 747-8I aircrafts. The airline further said that its other daily roundtrip flights CA989 and CA990 will however continue to be served utilizing Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts to/from New York JFK.

Air China became the first carrier in Asia to receive a Boeing 747-8I aircraft. The airline had placed an order of a total of seven Boeing 747-8I aircrafts and has so far received four such aircrafts.

Air China, a member of Star Alliance, has now become the only Chinese carrier to operate the Boeing 747-8I aircraft. It has also become the only airline in the world to provide nonstop flights services between New York JFK and Beijing through Boeing 747-8I aircraft.

The Boeing 747-8I aircrafts being currently operated by Air China are configured with 12 luxury suites in its Forbidden Pavilion first class cabin. The aircraft is equipped with 54 seats in its Capital Pavilion business class cabins. The customers booking business class flights are being offered fully lie-flat seats. The 365-seat aircraft is also offering 66 seats in premium economy and 233 seats in economy class cabins.
