Air China to buy 9 Boeing 737-800s

Travelers can expect to book more Air China flights in future after the airline acquires more aircrafts.

Air China recently announced it has entered into an agreement with a U.S. firm to buy new aircrafts. According to the airline, this is one of its biggest deals ever reached with Los Angeles based Air Lease Corp. to buy 13 new jetliners. Both the companies have signed a 12-year agreement for this.

The airline in a statement said that the aircrafts it is planning to buy include nine new Boeing 737-800s and four new Airbus A321-200s. The airline has not yet revealed that amount involved in this deal, but said that these aircrafts will be delivered in 2013 and 2014.

Earlier, the company also delivered two new A330-200s to Air China on long term leases during the second half of 2011.

Jie Chen, Air Lease Corp’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Asia, said that the company worked closely with the management of Air China to provide new and efficient aircraft to optimize its future fleet.
