Air France maiden flight lands in Malta

Air France recently announced the launch of its maiden flight to Malta. The airline’s first ever scheduled flight landed in Malta on April 1, 2012. The airline utilized an Airbus A-319 aircraft to conduct the flight filled up with passengers.

The inaugural flight was accorded a warm welcome with water jets from the fire brigade stationed at the Malta International Airport. The passengers were greeted and were handed traditional Maltese delicacies as they exited the aircraft.

The airline in a statement said that Air France flights will be operated twice every week from Toulouse all year round, further increasing Malta’s connectivity to this growing tourist destination.

Tourists from France are constantly heading towards Malta ever since 2007, when it reported 73,000 French tourist arrivals. In 2011, Malta welcomed 102,000 tourists from France.

The launch of this new route is expected to boost tourism in the region further. Even the Malta Tourism Authority has also started aggressive promotional campaign to attract French tourists.
