Air France to provide Wi-Fi connectivity on long-haul routes, conducting trial

Passengers booking Air France flights tickets on long-haul routes can now look forward to get Wi-Fi Internet connectivity onboard their flights.
 
Air France recently indicated that it is planning to provide Wi-Fi Internet connectivity on international flights. The airline said that its partner airline KLM will also equip all its long-haul flights with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Air France-KLM said in a joint statement that they are planning to conduct trial of in-flight Wi-Fi, including mobile data services, on two long-haul flights early 2013.

The airline has decided to offer Wi-Fi Internet connectivity on long-haul flights following the recent moves of other major carriers, including Japan Airlines and Qantas Airways, to offer Wi-Fi connectivity on international flights.

According to reports, Air France and KLM are planning to offer Wi-Fi Internet service on two Boeing 777 aircrafts. The trials are scheduled to begin in February next year.

During the trial phase, the passengers traveling in all the cabins will be offered Wi-Fi internet services through which they would be able to send texts and emails from their mobile phones. The passengers would also be able to browse the Internet on their Wi-Fi enabled laptop, tablet or smart phone.
