Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is headquartered in the UAE capital city of Abu Dhabi. The royal decree issued in July 2003 accorded Etihad Airways the status of a flagship carrier. The airline is presently providing flight services to worldwide destinations from its main hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Currently, more than 1,000 weekly flights are being offered by the airline to 96 destinations spanning in various continents and regions including the Middle East, the Americas, Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia. The airline conducts flights to these destinations with its fleet of 85 Boeing as well as Airbus aircrafts. Etihad Airways has over the years grown tremendously and is acknowledged as the 2nd largest carrier in the UAE. The airline is also the 4th largest carrier in the Middle East region. Etihad Airways is among the few carriers that serve destinations across all six densely populated continents.
