AirTran Airways gains No. 2 spot in best on-time arrivals in April

Passengers booking AirTran Airways flights tickets and traveling to their respective destinations have expressed great satisfaction with timely arrivals.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) recently published a report providing on-time arrivals and other related details for April 2012.

The DoT said in its report that AirTran Airways has gained No. 2 spot for on-time arrivals. Hawaiian Airlines emerged No. 1 posting the best on-time arrivals record.

According to the report, 86.3 percent of flights by major U.S. carriers reported on-time arrivals in April this year. This was significantly much higher as compared to the same month in 2011.

The on-time arrival record by American Airlines was at its worst. The airline is currently operating flights under bankruptcy protection ever since November last year.
  
The DoT report further stated that mishandled baggage rate also sharply decreased to fewer than 3 for every 1,000 passengers. This is the lowest rate since 1987, the period when the statistic began to be reported by U.S. carriers.
