Alitalia enters into codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways

Italy’s national flag carrier Alitalia recently announced it has entered into codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways. The move of the airline is aimed at expanding its flight network to international destinations.

The codeshare agreement between the two carriers will allow the commencement of flights services between Rome and Abu Dhabi starting from December this year.

The airline in a statement said that there will be four weekly Alitalia flights to be operated between Rome and Abu Dhabi starting from December 1, 2012 after the codeshare agreement finally takes effect. The airline will be operating its flights in association with its codeshare partner Etihad Airways.

The Rome-Abu Dhabi flights will be operated with the help of Airbus A330 aircraft configured with seating capacity for 230 passengers.
According to the airline, the flights will be operated on a split schedule that will ensure maximum connectivity to the passengers over Etihad Airway’s Abu Dhabi hub.
