All Nippon Airways seeks fuel surcharge hike for Philippines-Japan flights

Leading Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways flights between Philippines and Japan is set to be costly now. The airline recently indicated that it is seeking an increase in fuel surcharge for flights between the Philippines and Japan.

All Nippon Airways in a filing with the Civil Aeronautics Board has sought approval for authority to impose upward adjustment of fuel surcharge on international passenger tickets.

The airline is currently charging a fee of $88, which it wants to be adjusted to $101 per ticket. The Civil Aeronautics Board will take up the issue for deliberations on May 22, 2012.

After approval, All Nippon Airways will be allowed to adjust its fuel surcharge for three months. For further extension, the airline will again have to file another application with the Civil Aeronautics Board.

Like all other carriers, All Nippon Airways is seeking an upward adjustment in fuel surcharge so that it may recover from losses incurred from higher jet fuel prices.
