Asiana Airlines to change terminal at Singapore’s Changi airport

South Korea’s flagship carrier Asiana Airlines is now preparing to move its operations to the new terminal at Singapore’s Changi International Airport. Apart from Asiana Airlines, three other international carriers will also be shifting their operations to the new terminal. The other carriers include Lion Air, Philippine Airlines and PAL Express.

Changi airport officials are taking the step of shifting flight operations of four carriers aimed at optmising capacity utilization across the airport’s three terminals.

Media reports said that South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines will be moving to Terminal 3 from Terminal 2 on September 30, 2013. Indonesia’s low-cost carrier Lion Air will be shifting its operations to Terminal 3 on October 18, 2013. Lion Air is currently operating out of the airport’s Terminal 1.
 
The reports further indicated that Philippines-based sister carriers Philippine Airlines and PAL Express will be moving their flight operations on October 28, 2013. Both the carriers are presently carrying out their Singapore operations from Terminal 2. The two carriers will now be shifting their operations to Terminal 1.

According to the airport officials, the relocation exercise would include the reassigning of check-in rows within the terminals. The authorities will also provide signage to enable the passengers to navigate their way around the new terminals. In order to efficiently assist the passengers, additional staff would also be deployed to provide directions and required information.

Singapore’s Changi International Airport is presently the sixth busiest airport in the world in terms of international passenger traffic. The airport currently handles more than 52 million passenger traffic every year.
