United Airlines has announced that it has launched WiFi access on its long-haul international flights. With this addition United Airlines has become the first American carrier to offer WiFi access on long distance international flights.
The airline will be using a satellite based Panasonic Ku-band service on its transpacific and transatlantic sectors, operates by a Boeing B747. Two of United's Airbus A319 have also equipped with this new technology.
The airline plans to equip its entire fleet by the end of December 2013 with this technology.
United Airline flights passengers can choose between 'Standard" and "Accelerated" WiFi connection. Standard connection with cost between $3.99 and $14.99 depending on the total flight time, whereas Accelerated will cost between $5.99-$19.99.
