Leading global airline alliance Oneworld recently announced more benefits for top tier frequent flyers booking international flights on member airlines.
The additional benefits being offered to top tier frequent flyers by Oneworld are part of the alliance’s strategy to position itself as the most preferred airline alliance for the frequent international travelers.
Media reports said that Oneworld Emerald status frequent flyer cardholders would now be entitled to an extra checked baggage allowance, above the standard limit for the cabin class in which they are traveling, when flying on any Oneworld member airline. An extra checked baggage allowance includes either one additional item where the piece concept applies, or an extra 20 kg where the weight concept applies.
Apart from this, the Emerald status frequent flyer cardholders would also be able to use fast track lanes through security when flying from select key airports worldwide on select Oneworld member airline.
Emerald, which is the highest status in the Oneworld frequent flyer program, is being currently held by Airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airline, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas Airways, Royal Jordanian Airlines and S7.
