Canada’s second-largest carrier WestJet Airlines recently announced its operational results for the month of January this year and was upbeat at the outcome. The airline in a statement said that WestJet Airlines flights ran fuller in January 2013.

The airline reported strong sale of WestJet Airlines flight tickets this January. According to the airline, its passenger traffic (measured by Revenue Passenger Miles) increased 7.7 percent y-o-y.

The airline further indicated that its capacity (measured in Available Seat Miles) increased 6.4 percent in January this year as compared to the same month in 2012.

Providing more details about its January outcome, WestJet Airlines said that its load factor was a record 80.9 percent as compared to 79.9 percent in January last year. The load factor is measured in percentage of available seats filled with paying customers.

A spokesperson of WestJet Airlines said that the load factor in January this year was the seventh consecutive monthly record for the airline. The spokesperson said that this clearly indicated that the airline was in good health and the air travel demand was strong.

The airline said that its forward bookings continue to remain strong and that it is hoping to see increase in passenger traffic in the coming months.
