The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival from May to October in the Yerba Buena Gardens celebrates the joys of open space and sunshine with festivals of culture, music and dance. Next is the Cinco De Mayo celebration for the whole family, followed by the San Francisco Wine Festival offering unlimited drinks and food along with cooking demos by top chefs on May 18th; on May 19th, tens of thousands of costume clad people take part in a hilarious walking race in the Bay to Breakers event. Other notable events in May are the San Francisco Carnaval on May 25th and 26th and the Alcatraz Swim challenge on May 27th.

June kicks off with the SF Dine About Town from the 1st till 15th; enjoy prix fixe lunches and dinners offered by various restaurants from all over the city at discounted rates. On June 9th is the Haight-Ashbury Street Fair, a celebration for people who belong to this reputed neighborhood; after this is the San Francisco Jazz Festival from June 12th to 23rd, a gala event with distinguished local and foreign artists. On June 15th, the Ghirardelli Square hosts a street festival just for kids with rides, shows and games; from June 16th till August 18th is the Stern Grove Festival, a celebration of fine music and dance in picturesque settings. On June 29th and 30th is the San Francisco Pride festival, observed with a grand parade and celebrations by the LGBT population of the city.
