Travelers booking Virgin America plane tickets must be having a great flying experience. Virgin America has recently been named the best airline in the United States in a study by ‘Consumer Reports’, a magazine that exclusively ranks various products and published since the 1930s.

Virgin America outwitted JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and other big full-service airlines, and was named the best airline in the U.S.

Virgin America began operations in 2007 as an individual airline company after separating from Virgin Atlantic Airways. The study said that Virgin America has consistently ranked near the top of “best airline” lists. The airline has however never benefited by making an annual profit. The airline had lost $145 million in 2012.

The magazine conducted a survey in which 16,663 readers participated. Virgin America was ranked top with 89 out of a possible 100 points, gaining four points more than Southwest Airlines and JetBlue Airways, which tied for the second place.
