British Airways considering pulling out of London-Australia route

British Airways flights services on London-Australia route are likely to be discontinued in future. The airline has recently given a strong indication that it is mulling pulling out of the London-Australia route.
 
The airline is thinking in terms of discontinuing its flights services on the route following Qantas Airways’ decision to favor Gulf-based carrier Emirates Airline as its alliance partner.

British Airways recently made a submission to the competition regulator saying that its 17-year alliance with Qantas Airways had been an important factor in its ability to continue with flight services between Australia and Europe.

The airline said that it will be ending its alliance with Qantas Airways in March next year. Qantas Airways is planning to make Emirates Airline as its alliance partner in March 2013.

British Airways in its statement said that in the absence of an alliance with an international airline like Qantas Airways it will become increasingly challenging for it to continue operating its flight services on long-haul routes between the UK, Europe and Australia.
