British Airways to launch new subsidiary to operate its premium transatlantic services

British Airways flights from London City on its premium transatlantic route will now be served through a new subsidiary.

British Airways recently announced it will be launching a new subsidiary for operating its premium transatlantic services from London City.

The airline in a statement said that the new subsidiary will be known as British Airways Limited and it will be securing its own operating license and air operator certificate. The new subsidiary will have two Airbus A318s in its fleet, which will be acquired under a wet-lease arrangement with British Airways.

According to British Airways, the new subsidiary is being formed from a previous company established on March 14, 2012 under the name Acoperco.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority had earlier disclosed that the company had formally applied in March seeking operating and route licenses. However, Acoperco had changed its name to British Airways Limited on May 17, 2012.
