British Airways unveils its first Olympic-themed jet

British Airways flights during the 2012 Olympic Games being held in London will don a completely new look. The airline has got its Olympic-themed jets designed in a way that the plane looks a bit like a bird.

British Airways recently unveiled the first in a flock of Olympic-themed jets that will be flown during the Olympic Games to be held in London this summer.

The first Olympic-themed Airbus A319 has already gone into service. The aircraft has been painted to resemble a giant gold dove. A total of nine decorated Olympic planes will be pressed into service by the airline.

British Airways in a statement said that the look of the plane has been created by Artist Tracey Emin mentored designer Pascal Anson.
Recalling her association with the project, Emin said that she loved the design most as it “brings back the excitement of travel”.

To honor 2012 London Olympic Games, British Airways has also hired Chef Heston Blumenthal to develop in-flight meals inspired by traditional British cookery and the 1948 London Olympics. Blumenthal is helping his colleague Simon Hulstone in developing the in-flight meals.
