China Eastern Airlines to boost capacity on international routes

China’s second largest carrier China Eastern Airlines recently announced it will boost its capacity on international routes.
 
The airline in a statement said that China Eastern Airlines flights capacity will be increased to 10 percent over the second half of 2012.

Media reports quoted China Eastern Airlines’ Executive Vice-President Zeng Yongchao as saying that the airline’s capacity expansion would be focused on its foreign routes that are most frequented.

Yongchao said that there has been a 19 percent increase in the airline’s outbound international passenger traffic over the 6 months to June. He also said that there has been an increase in passenger capacity by 4.6 percent during the same period y-o-y.

China Eastern Airlines revealed that it would be taking the delivery of 21 new aircrafts in the second half of this year. The aircrafts to be integrated in the airline’s fleet include Airbus SAS A320s, Boeing 737s and twin-aisle A330s. The airline further said that it would be adding another 47 aircrafts into its fleet next year.
