Emirates Airline, Qantas Airways partnership likely for 5 years

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) draft determination on partnership has been warmly welcomed by Emirates Airline and Qantas Airways.
 
Emirates Airline in a statement recently said that the ACCC’s draft determination proposes to grant authorization for its partnership with Qantas Airways for a period of five years.

The partnership will enable the customers booking Emirates Airline flights as well traveling by Qantas Airways to get seamless access to Australian and international networks. Apart from this, the customers of both the carriers would be able to avail exclusive mutual frequent flyer benefits and enhanced travel options.

The ACCC, which has already issued a draft determination, would be taking a final decision on the partnership of both the carriers in March 2013. Both the carriers require ACCC approval to effectively coordinate on sales, pricing and capacity. 

The partnership between Emirates Airline and Qantas Airways would be able to be implemented only after ACCC’s final determination and regulatory approval in other jurisdictions.
