Emirates Airlines planning to increase 52 percent more seats to India

Middle East’s leading carrier Emirates Airlines recently announced it is mulling increasing the number of seats every week to India by 52 percent. The airline currently offers 54,200 seats every week on Emirates Airlines flights to India, which is likely to be increased to 80,000 seats per week.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Emirates Airlines is based, has expressed keen desire for talks with Indian government over revising of the bilateral flying rights between the two countries.

India’s National Council of Applied Economic Research has already endorsed the expansion plans of Emirates Airlines to India. It said that if the UAE-based carrier is given approval for 80,000 seats every week into India, then there is likelihood that India’s economy will vastly benefit by $790 million.

Emirates Airlines has already expressed its desire that it wants to operate flights to four additional destinations in India, including Trichy, Pune, Mangalore and Amritsar.

Will Lofberg, Emirates Airlines’ Senior Manager (Public Environment Affairs), said that the airline would definitely like to offer its flights services to more destinations in India and would like to get more capacity into India. He said that the airline has proposed to operate an Airbus A-380 aircraft into India, and the request is yet to be approved by the Indian government.
