Emirates Ends 2014 as World’s Largest Wide-Body Airline

Emirates, world’s most renowned and largest airline bid adieu to the year 2014 with a bang. It became world’s leading airline in-terms of owing 218 wide-body passenger aircrafts, largest in the world aviation industry.

The airline for two years consecutively has increased its fleet size and overall seat capacity of its aircrafts. In the year 2014 alone the airline purchased 27 new aircrafts. Out of which it has procured two Boeing 777 freighters, 12 Boeing 777-300ERs and 13 Airbus 380s. Purchase of these aircrafts includes Emirates’ 100th 777-300ER aircraft and 50th A380.

Sir Tim Clark, Emirates’ President said the airline has shown unprecedented growth on the year 2014. We have fought Ebola outbreak, oil price fluctuations, regional conflicts and economic uncertainty. Yet we have managed maintain our seat load factor, reinforced our global network and increased our fleet size. All this has given us enough tractability to manage with regional stupors and strategically redeploy so as to maximum opportunities can be explored.

As far as growth and connectivity is concerned Emirates Airline since the beginning of 2014 has operated 3516 flights per week on an average basis and transported more than 45 million passengers. It has flown 756 million kilometers, served more than 47 million meals and carried more than 2.1 million tons of cargo this year alone.

Some of its major milestone for the 2014 include awarded as the most valued airline brand in February; launch of Emirates App in April; announced 26th year of consecutive profit; received its 50th Airbus 380 in July; received its 100th Boeing 777-300ER in October and launch of free inflight wi-fi service in December.
