Emirates plans to revisit abandoned codeshare agreement with Qantas Airways

Leading Middle East carrier Emirates is planning to engage with Qantas Airways again and strike a flight deal.

Emirates flights to Australia will see the light of the day if it succeeds in finalizing a deal with Qantas Airways, media reports said recently.
Media reports quoted Tim Clark, President of Emirates, as suggesting that the carriers may revitalize their abandoned plans for a codeshare agreement. This suggestion has brought a glimmer of hope for the struggling international arm of Qantas Airways.

Earlier, both the carriers were unable to strike a deal and had backed away from plans for a formal codesharing arrangement.

Clark, however, hopes that it’s about time that the codeshare plans should be revisited. He said that the agreement, if arrived at, would surely benefit both the carriers. He said that Emirates will benefit from Qantas, while Qantas will similarly benefit from Emirates.

Clark said that Qantas Airways has a huge share in the Australian domestic market, and there’s a great deal of work that both the airline operators could do.
