Etihad Airways to expand reach to India and other Asian markets

Etihad Airways flights network are likely to be expanded to India as well as other Asian markets. The airline recently announced it is planning to expand its reach in India and other destinations in Asia.

UAE’s national flag carrier Etihad Airways has already expanded globally after acquiring stakes in international carriers like Virgin Australia, Airberlin and Aer Lingus.

James Hogan, Chief Executive of Etihad Airways, said that the airline is looking to buy more stakes in other airlines. He said that the airline will possibly enter into one or two partnerships more and try to gain long-term stability.

Hogan said that Etihad Airways has acquired a 29.2 percent stake in Airberlin, 10 percent stake in Virgin Australia, and three percent stake in Aer Lingus. The airline will now be looking towards Asia and expand its network.

He said that India and Asia represents an opportunity for Etihad Airways, and that the airline has been constantly receiving offers from Indian carriers for partnerships.
