Meer dan Vis is undoubtedly one of the best places to savor your favorite seafood herring. This place is quite busy and filled with people. You will need to spare some time and wait patiently for your turn to enjoy the dish. Meer dan Vis is situated in the Jordaan neighborhood and doesn’t pass off as a typical herring stand found across the city. It is in fact a full-service seafood shop where you can order for chips and fried fish as well. It is open from Tuesday through Friday from 11.30 am to 6.30 pm. However, it is open on Saturday from 11 am to 5.30 pm.

Vishuisje Herengracht

The strategic central canal-side location of Vishuisje Herengracht is a big attraction for the visitors. This herring stand is serene, away from the noisy atmosphere of the inner center. The Vishuisje Herengracht has gained immense popularity for its highly delicious herring. Try out herring broodies or sandwiches, which are usually served with a blend of seasonings. You will just need to order for freshly prepared herring and enjoy eating it right away. If you want to enjoy your herring at a shady spot adjacent to the water fountain then consider strolling a few minutes to the Frederiksplein. Before visiting here you need to take note of its opening timings. It is open from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday to Wednesday and Friday. However, it is open from 9 am to 9 pm on Thursday, while on Saturday it is open from 9 am to 5 pm.

Stubbe’s

Stubbe’s is being run by the Stubbe family for more than a century now. It is situated on a canal just near the Central Station. It is considered to be among the hugely popular herring hotspot in Amsterdam. It’s surely a great place for trying out the tasty herring for the first time. This famous herring stand is renowned for its friendly staff donning their signature pinstriped uniforms graciously serving herring and other local delicacies to tourists and generations of Amsterdammers alike.
