Water is elixir of life whether it comes from a tap, well or tank. But have you ever heard of a museum dedicated to tap water. Weird and bizarre, isn’t it? Believe me. This sounds very much true. You just need to book your cheap flights to Beijing and head off to the capital city of Peoples’ Republic of China to see this one of its kind Museum of Tap Water. Beijing’s Museum of Tap Water is the strangest and probably the only of its kind existing in the world today. This museum was established with the motto of educating the people of China regarding the history of tap water in the country.

The Museum of Tap Water is located in Beijing’s Qingshui Yuan apartment complex. This amazing museum has gained recognition among the tourists as well who come here to see and learn about the 90-year-old water treatment history in China. This fascinating museum depicts the history through maps, pictures, equipment and old relics, with detailed captions.

The history of tap water can be traced from the year 1908 when the first water treatment company named ‘Jingshi Tap Water Co.’ was founded. In order to trace this history, the Museum of Tap Water was established at the original water plant. The original intake pavilion that existed in 1908 is still intact and in really good condition. Even the chimney as well as steam engine room built in the 1920s is still present in their original conditions.
