California is one such place in the United States which is synonymous with its beaches. There are many beach hotels here where you can consider staying during your vacations. Some of these hotels are though expensive, while others are quite affordable indeed. Let’s take a look at some of the affordable beach accommodations where you can stay and make your holidays enjoyable. These include budget inns, cabins and campsites.
Crystal Cove Beach Cottages
Located just in the heart of Crystal Cove State Park are the rustic, bohemian beach cottages. The park can be reached after traversing three-and-a-half-mile long winding white-sand coastline. These beach cottages came into existence in the 30s and 40s, and now restored with period details and vintage seaside furniture. The cottages are situated on either side of the beach and interconnected by wind beaten painted fences and winding wooden pathways. You will be mostly required to share bathrooms, decks, living areas and kitchens in these “Dorm” cottages. You can visit The Beachcomber café nearby to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. There’s a takeaway Shake Shack as well from where you can buy milkshakes, fries and burgers.
Manchester Beach KOA
The Manchester Beach KOA is a family-friendly campground resort. The Kamping Kabins here are endearing and rustic, and equipped with porch swings and miniature wooden front porches. The gorgeous Manchester Beach is quite close by. You can enjoy strolling on the fine grey sandy beach, which is five-mile long. The sea lions slumbering in the surf and the migration of California gray whales along the Mendocino Coast present awesome sight. If you are passionate about fishing then look forward to catching Cabazon, smelt, perch, steelhead and salmon near the campground, which though depends on the season. For all those who love horseback riding, the capacious Manchester Beach is undoubtedly the perfect place for this.
La Jolla Inn
The La Jolla Inn is the best place in San Diego for all those who want to freshen up with a lemonade drink and munching on freshly baked cookies after snorkeling in the morning while sitting on an ocean-view terrace. The rooms in La Jolla Inn are clean and small, with little balconies offering views of the ocean, and equipped with quilted bedspreads. There are many beaches in La Jolla. You can venture out to the beautiful La Jolla Cove for snorkeling. However, surfing here is prohibited. The nearby Windansea Beach is most frequented by the surfers.

With their staggering location and a laid-back atmosphere, the lodgings are the perfect budget oceanfront choice for staying in California during your vacations. There are picnic tables laid around patio where the guests enjoy their breakfast. When hiking down from the hostel, you will arrive at the Limantour Beach and pleased to see the coyotes, bobcats, pelicans, hawks and foxes.
Julia Pfeiffer campground
The Julia Pfeiffer Burns state park in Big Sur is home to two hike-in environmental campsites. Tourists mostly prefer to stay at Pfeiffer Big Sur, which is more famous and bigger park. However, it’s simply not worthwhile overlooking the campsites at the smaller Julia Pfeiffer Burns state park, which offer awesome shoreline views that are simply unmatched. Just imagine all that awaits you when staying at these campsites – wake up to the refreshing smell of sea spray and redwoods, sea lions from the cove barking, and hummingbirds buzzing all around you. The campsite though doesn’t offer a direct access to the beach.
