La Habichuela
La Habichuela is situated in the Hotel Zone. It has been serving the local Mexicans and foreign tourists for over 30 years now. The ambiance in the restaurant’s open air garden and lounge is delightful. The twinkling lights, plants, trees and sculptures are there to make you feel overjoyed while you enjoy your food here. The restaurant’s signature dish “Cocobichuela” shouldn’t be missed in any case. This dish is served in a coconut shell. It is essentially a mixed preparation of tropical fruits, curry sauce, rice, shrimp and lobster. After enjoying the fabulous meal don’t forget to order a Mayan coffee and delicious Flambé dessert.
Peter's Restaurante
The Peter's Restaurante is a recent addition to food scene in Downtown Cancun. This cozy restaurant has been in existence only for a few years now. Within a short time it has gained immense popularity and is among the most visited restaurant in the city. The restaurant is owned by Peter and his family. Popular dishes served at the restaurant include pasta, vegetarian, beef, veal, fish and shrimp. A small selection of good wine is also available here. The prices of food are considerably lower than what are being offered by restaurants in the Hotel Zone.
La Palapa Belga
The La Palapa Belga restaurant is situated in the Hotel Zone. The thatched-roof, open-air restaurant is though small, but simply wonderful. This beautiful restaurant is in fact a hidden treasure of Cancun, which remains to be explored by foreign tourists. The La Palapa Belga restaurant is however quite popular among the locals. The restaurant is renowned for serving Belgian and French gourmet dishes. The service is excellent and the cuisines sumptuous. The heavenly creme brulee is to be relished after your meals. Make sure that your reservations are done in advance as the restaurant is small.
Les Cepages
The Les Cepages restaurant is situated in Downtown Cancun. It’s a new restaurant and completed its 4th anniversary recently. The Les Cepages is famous for its signature dish Roasted Rack of Lamb served along with Mint demi-glaze. The prices of food here are much lower as compared to those in Hotel Zone restaurants. The restaurant is open on Monday from 6 to 11 pm. It is open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 3 to 11 pm, while it is closed on Sundays. It is best to reserve your table in advance.
