There are various bars in Frankfurt with live music, particularly Jazz. Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse which is also known as Jazzgasse (Jazz Alley) has the best bars. The venues showcasing cultural performances are closed in July and August.

Die Rote
Die Rote Bar is a cult hangout, cocktail bar and a chill-out lounge. It is located in one of the classic buildings in Mainkai 7. The curious crowd will need to cajole their way into this hip bar colored in red hues. The customers are served by well dressed staff that is good at blending cocktails as well.

Stereo Bar
This cellar club mostly attracts young crowd, especially students. It has a swanky interior with an aquarium and walls painted in orange. Stereo bar serves reasonably priced drinks which you can savor while listening to rock, funk or techno mix.

Harvey’s
This bar is redecorated several times in a year. It is one of the best bars in Frankfurt, whether it is the brocade walls or gold paint. The solid drinks menu is always the same including popular Harvey’s Gimlet, Frozen Margarita and many others. Harvey’s also has an outdoor café and restaurant with Gothic style windows.

Clubs in Frankfurt

APT-Apartment
APT-Apartment is one of the coolest night clubs located in Hanauer Landstrasse Street. The DJs mostly play funk, acid jazz and house music. On the weekends, the club is open till 5 am. It also has a bar lounge to relax when the music gets too loud.

Club 101
Club 101 is the perfect night spot for people who like clubbing with a view. Sitting on 25th floor of Japan Centre, the club is famous for playing classic house music. The dance floor is not too big, so most of the visitors grab a cocktail and enjoy the picturesque views of the city.

Living XXL
This is the Frankfurt’s largest club with a raise dining room overlooking the dance floor and three bars. Located on the ground floor of Eurotower, the club is equipped with huge video screens showing the live action in the club.

Silbergold
Silbregold is more or less a super club with loud music and huge masses thronging to enjoy the party. DJs play various dance classics graced with presence of famous personalities every weekend.
Live Music in Frankfurt

Batschkapp
It is the ultimate destination to catch bands performing live in Frankfurt. It was closed in December 2013 and moved to different location in Frankfurt-Seckbach. It was regularly visited by Germany’s former foreign minister, Joschka Fischer in the 1980s. It has seen the most popular band acts from Germany as well as Europe including Deer Tick and Mogwai. It also features regular club nights if there are not any live shows happening.

Elfer Music Club
Elfer Music Club is all about live music. It is a rock club featuring metal and indie rock. Once can also enjoy frequently played dubstep music.

Mampf
It is the smallest jazz bar in Frankfurt but it is quite popular among tourists and locals. Besides the capacity of 25 people, the jazz bar unbelievably accommodates more people almost every night. The food and drinks are reasonably priced.

Jazzkeller
Jazzkeller was opened in 1952 and has hosted top stars like Chet Baker and Louis Armstrong. It is closed on Mondays and features artists playing modern Jazz, Blues, Latin, Swing, Bebop and Funk. It is located in a chic basement in Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse.

Alte Oper
Frankfurt's principal classical music venue, Alte Oper (the Old Opera), features performances by the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra, the city's opera company, and a variety of visiting performers. It was rebuilt in the 1970s after the building was bombed in 1944. This was the venue where the popular Carl Orff's Carmina Burana was performed for the first time in Frankfurt in 1937.

Theatre in Frankfurt
English Theatre
It is the largest English–speaking theatre in Europe which opened in 1979. It brings four productions to the city every year including West End productions and Broadway. The classic musical, Saturday Night Fever and the French classic Venus in Fur are among the popular theatre performances. The theatre consists of a cinema which showcases British, German and US movies.
