Warsaw: Poland’s Phoenix City

The capital of Poland, Warsaw is an alpha-global city in terms of tourism and economy. With a population of around 3 million residents in the metropolis, it’s the seventh most populous in Europe. After World War II, the city developed magnificently, building some of the most exceptional forms of architecture. Celebrating in this rich, historic city is definitely on the tourists’ to-do list.

There is no particular peak season for the city, it’s always booming with festivities and events around the year. Flights to Warsaw come to a stop at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, bringing along around 300 flights a day!

The first two months of the city have on-going expos and premier shows. Rounds of fancy performances are marked on the calendar for this time of the year.
Winter’s end is celebrated in March at the event called The Drowning of Marzanna. The style of celebration remains completely Slavic, with a touch of the metropolis’ mixed crowd. It is considered that the cold winter weather is actually the spell of an evil witch, Marzanna, who drowns and the curse is released from the city.

Easter time in Warsaw is spectacular! From the number of celebrations, some of the selected attractions include the Ludwig Van Beethoven Fest and Palm Sunday Easter Fest. The city celebrates and honors some of the finest musicians and composers of time. A lot of classy performers are the center of gravity for tourists.  The season makes Poland simply remarkable, with its parades and galas throughout the country.

The grandest celebration of the city is Noc Swietojanska or Mid Summer’s Eve, which proceeds at the Vistula River. Maidens toss their wreaths into the waters, following an intense ancient ritual of the region. For foreigners, this fest is more than amazement…there are a line of colorful fireworks that light up the night sky, along with international stars mesmerizing the crowd at various concerts! People buy airline tickets even till the end moment; this event can’t be missed!

The summer sees a number of Jazz events and musicals in the city, with a large part of the audience appreciating the classics at their best!
In September, the Warsaw Autumn makes Poland into a dance land, with contemporary styles luring the participants in. Cheap plane fares can be availed in this season mainly because the tour-operators are competing neck-to-neck to give the best packages for the line of events to follow.

The Palace of Culture celebrates the Christmas Season to the fullest in the last few days of the year, with the city decorated under layers of snow, colorful festival lights and festoons.
