Frontier Airlines Denver-Great Falls flights to help reduce fares

The launch of new Frontier Airlines flights between Denver and Great Falls from May 14, 2012 is likely to bring in competition and compel other airlines to significantly reduce fares.

John Faulkner, Great Falls Airport Director, while briefing the Airport Authority members told that the scheduled launch of Frontier Airlines flights between Denver and Great Falls four days per week from May 14 this year is already prodding other carriers to reduce fares.

Faulkner said that the airport is seeking to promote Frontier Airlines flights to Montana in Midwestern cities and Canada, and is revamping the airport for the airline’s effective use.

According to FAA guidelines, the airports are allowed to provide incentives to promote airport flights and even specific airlines, but not the city or region in general.

During St. Patrick’s Day parade in Great Falls, an airport sign promoting Frontier Airlines’ low introductory rates was carried. Citing the special introductory fares, the poster displayed roundtrip Frontier Airlines tickets as showing $200 between Great Falls and Denver; Kansas City, $260; Atlanta, $332; Dallas/Fort Worth, $332; Indianapolis, $332; and Chicago, $342.

Other carriers serving Great Fall have also significantly reduced some fares in an attempt to retain customers.
