Frontier Airlines departure from Columbus hits passenger traffic

Authorities at Port Columbus International Airport recently indicated that fewer passengers flew out of the airport in July this year.
 
The airport officials said that the stopping of Frontier Airlines flights services for the second consecutive month has caused a slight decline in the passenger traffic in July this year.

Frontier Airlines flights carried 6,449 passengers through Port Columbus International Airport in July 2011. The airline stopped providing Frontier Airlines flights tickets and operating twice-daily flights between Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport and Port Columbus International Airport effective from June 1, 2012.

According to the airport officials, traffic dropped by 0.1 percent to 585,334 passengers in July 2012, down 501 from 585,835 in July last year. The officials further stated that the traffic is up 0.8 percent to about 3.75 million passengers through the first seven months of this year.

Apart from Frontier Airlines, other carrier US Airways also flew 6,786 less passengers, down 8.2 percent to 75,615 passengers in July this year.
