Frontier Airlines seeks federal approval for Colorado Springs-Washington flight

Leading US private carrier Frontier Airlines recently announced it wants to begin flights between Colorado Springs Airport and Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport late this summer and is seeking federal approval for this.

The airline in a statement said that the proposed flights would start and end in San Diego. Frontier Airlines flights between Colorado Springs and San Diego will be the first daily nonstop service whenever approved.

Earlier, ExpressJet Airlines had been operating scheduled service on Colorado Springs-San Diego route, which was finally grounded in September 2008 citing high jet fuel prices.

Frontier Airlines had last month revealed plans to begin daily nonstop flights from Colorado Springs to Los Angeles in May this year.

Apart from this, the airline had also announced its plans to flights to Phoenix six days per week; to Portland three days per week; and flights to Seattle four days per week.

Frontier Airlines started serving Colorado Springs about four years ago. It is currently operating six flights per day to its Denver International Airport hub.
