Frontier Airlines sees boost in its annual performance rankings

Frontier Airlines recently announced its performance rankings for the year 2011 and was quite euphoric at the positive outcome. The airline said that it has recorded the largest jump of any national airline in an annual report on performance rankings made public lately.

In the overall rankings of the 15 airlines that have at least 1 percent of total domestic passenger revenues, the second-largest carrier at Denver International Airport Frontier Airlines leaped from ninth to fourth position.

The airline emerged successful as it eliminated several unprofitable routes where Frontier Airlines flights operated over the past year. This has also led the airline to cut expenses by roughly $120 million.

The rankings in the 22nd annual Airline Quality Rating reflect airline performance in four categories, including on-time performance, baggage handling, involuntary denied boardings and customer complaints. The study was jointly conducted by Wichita State University and Purdue University.

Dean Headley, an associate professor at Wichita State and co-author of the study, said that the cumulative score was the highest in the study’s history.
