Frontier Airlines suspending winter service on four routes

Frontier Airlines recently announced it will be suspending its seasonal flights on four of its six routes being operated out of Delaware. The airline operated the service on these routes during the winter schedule.

The routes on which the winter services are being suspended by the airline include Fort Myers, Atlanta, Chicago and Denver. The airline will stop operating seasonal service on these routes effective from December 12, 2014.

Frontier Airlines in a statement said that the service on these routes are being suspended as it is part of airline’s strategy to deploy its resources on those routes where needed most. The airline’s move has come at a time when Frontier Airlines is seeking to transform itself into an ultra low-cost carrier.

The airline however said that the suspended flights on these four routes are likely to become operational in the spring. The resuming of the seasonal service will be in addition to the launch of new destinations and increase in flight frequencies.

Frontier Airlines further indicated that it is also planning to launch new flights out of the New Castle Airport during the winter schedule. The airline said that it will be operating flights to Tampa and Orlando with the help of smaller aircrafts from New Castle Airport.

The airline said that the flights to Orlando from New Castle Airport will be increased to four times every week from the existing thrice weekly service. Similarly, the flights to Tampa will increase to twice weekly from the present once a week service.
