Frontier Airlines to continue flights from Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport

Frontier Airlines recently announced that it will continue to operate its flight services to/from Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport.

The U.S. Department of Transportation through its order issued lately had barred Frontier Airlines from discontinuing its flights operations out of the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport.

Earlier, Frontier Airlines had given a 90-day notice to the authorities to stop operating out of the Rhinelander-Oneida Country Airport in September. However, the U.S. Department of Transportation disapproved the airline’s request saying that essential air service mandates at least one carrier to operate out of Rhinelander.

Bids are required to be submitted by various airlines until November 18, 2011. However, if replacement is not found by early December Frontier Airlines will get an opportunity to collect subsidy funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation until a new carrier replaces it.
