Frontier Airlines to stop flights to Flint from Milwaukee March 8

Frontier Airlines recently announced that it will stop its flight operations to Flint from Milwaukee from March 8, 2012.

The airline said that its twice-daily weekday flights between Milwaukee and Flint’s Bishop Airport will be completely grounded beginning March 8 onwards.

The airline has been operating flights on Milwaukee-Flint route with the help of a 50-seat Embraer 145 aircraft.

Frontier Airlines in a statement said that operating small regional jets on Milwaukee-Flint route has become untenable because of high fuel prices, which keeps on growing every day. The airline stated that continuing with the services would have spelt doom as this route has become too unprofitable and is gradually eating into its revenues.

Through the first 10 months in 2011, Frontier Airlines accounted for only 22,019 departures or 6 percent of all flights, thus making it the smallest airline at Flint’s Bishop Airport in terms of passengers carried.

Frontier Airlines’ Milwaukee-Flint route was traditionally popular with General Motors officials owing to GM operations being undertaken in both the cities. The airline had been operating on this route since 2010.

The airline has advised passengers holding tickets after March 8 on this route to review options for refunds or rebooking their travels.
