Frontier Airlines to stop serving warm chocolate chip cookies April end

Frontier Airlines flights will soon see the disappearing of a sweet, complimentary in-flight treat. The airline recently announced that it will stop serving warm chocolate chip cookies on its flights at the end of April this year.

Passengers booking Frontier Airlines flights tickets were being served free chocolate chip cookies until now.

Frontier Airlines started serving the cookies on all its flights in 2010. The airline had been serving about 700,000 cookies per month.

Lindsey Carpenter, Frontier Airlines spokesperson, said that the airline was the only domestic low-cost carrier serving a free, perishable snack on board. This, however, didn’t align with the perception or financial reality of a low-cost carrier, Carpenter said.

The airline in a statement that starting in May (or when the current inventory of cookie dough runs out), it will begin serving 1 ounce packages of the cookies and crackers, which will be complimentary for the airline’s elite frequent flyers and unaccompanied minors.

The airline further stated that passengers traveling in Economy Class will, however, have to purchase the snacks for $1 each.
